Every year, we make it a point to take updated family photos — and this year’s session with Lily’s Rose Photography might just be my favorite yet. We took them right here in Fairhope, surrounded by that dreamy Spanish moss that makes everything look soft and timeless.
When it came to outfits, I wanted something that felt classic but still a little on-trend. Neutrals are always my go-to, but this time I added a touch of warm brown since it’s so in right now — and honestly, it photographed beautifully.
Here are a few tips if you’re planning your own family session soon:
✨ Stick with neutral tones that blend well together — cream, tan, white, soft sage, and brown are always safe bets.
✨ Mix solids and patterns for balance. If one person wears a floral or plaid, have the others in coordinating solids.
✨ Think about texture — linen, cotton, and knits always add dimension without being distracting.
✨ Avoid bright colors or large logos. Soft, muted tones keep the focus where it belongs: on your family.
✨ Don’t overthink it. The best photos come when you feel comfortable and confident in what you’re wearing.
I’ve linked all of our outfits below in case you need some inspiration for your next family session.
Because trust me — these seasons go by fast, and it’s always worth capturing them. 🤍
