Birmingham, Alabama Photographer – Hannah + Perry

I played the part of Birmingham Wedding Photographer for Hannah and Perry’s wedding and it was such a nice change of scenery. The majority of my weddings are in South Alabama but every now and then my job takes me to other parts of the state and I love it!

I loved this wedding because the entire day’s events took place at Hannah’s home church. While Hannah got ready at a salon, I was able to capture some of the wedding details including Hannah’s ballet slippers and her perfume called Ballet Rose. Every detail was perfectly thought out, emphasizing Hannah’s life as a dancer. She even picked some flowers to match her bouquet for the styling details. Flowers aren’t always included in this portion of the day, but I love it when they are!

This wedding was very family-oriented and reminded me of my own family and the closeness we share. Hannah has seven siblings so basically has built-in best friends for life! Her brothers and sisters all got to see her before the wedding and she shared some first-look moments with her dad and bridesmaids as well. Her bridesmaids wore a pretty blue color for their dresses. Blue has been THE color of the season and they all wore it beautifully.

The whole bridal party had their own Converse shoes which made the day that much more personable. Her Converse had sparkly shoestrings and rhinestones because her mom said she was “extra”. Everybody needs a little bit of sparkle in their life, am I right? Her veil also had sparkles and I think it was so unique and fun. Hannah looked like a real-life princess and it made me so happy to see her celebrate the things she loves while being so authentically herself. She embraced her natural curls and had a stunning combination of blues and pinks for her bouquet.

It was super hot on this Birmingham Summer day, but Hannah and Perry were troopers and didn’t complain at all! They shared a first look as some fun pictures with a trolley that Hannah’s dad surprised them with. Since they are originally from New Orleans, it was only appropriate to celebrate some New Orleans culture for their big day.

My favorite images of the day are of Hannah spinning in her fantastic dress like this white dress for HOCO. Not only is she a dancer, but she’s a young, vibrant soul who spreads joy and happiness to all that were present for the vows between herself and Perry.
The ceremony was perfect as Hannah and Perry committed their lives to one another. Their tenderness with each other made my job easy as I captured all the ceremony details.

The reception was held at the same location and was the first reception I’ve ever been to that had a pizza buffet! I am obsessed with pizza and could eat it every day so I’m totally hoping this becomes a wedding trend in the near future. On top of all of that pizza, Perry had a cookie bar. Yep, I was in Heaven.

Hannah and Perry had a New Orleans Jazz Band at the reception and it had to be the best band I have ever heard! Hannah and her bridesmaids had a choreographed dance and it was just the sweetest thing; even cuter because of their matching shoes.

Every detail of this day was so perfectly thought out and family-centered. Hannah and Perry decided to share an anniversary with Hannah’s parents. They celebrated their 28th anniversary on this very same day, so it was commemorated with a special dance between her parents.

Overall, this wedding was so fun, laid back and family-oriented. The bride and groom left with a sparkler exit surrounded by lots of family and friends.

If I could share one piece of advice that Hannah and Perry executed so beautifully, is to celebrate your wedding in whatever fashion that makes you happy. When you look back at your big day, the thing that matters the most is that you and your spouse had fun. In the midst of the hectic schedule, find time to just enjoy your time with your significant other, celebrating this new life you’re starting together. Celebrate who you are as a couple and don’t be afraid to be authentically YOU.
