Amanda + Karl

We have had the nicest weather for our weddings recently. It’s been so nice to not to have to worry about rain plans. I feel like I’m a little spoiled. I hope we continue to have great weather for all of our fall weddings!

Amanda + Karl’s wedding in Fairhope, Alabama was perfect! Great weather, beautiful colors, and a stunning couple!

MY FAVORITE MOMENTS OF THE DAY

• Amanda and Karl chose to do a first look, which I love! Their first look was full of emotion. A lot of the time, people chose not to do a first look because they want that raw emotion when the bride walks down the aisle. Even though Amanda and Karl chose to do a first look, Karl couldn’t help but get emotional when he saw Amanda coming down the aisle. This is actually the case most of the time when we do first looks. It doesn’t take away from that moment at all. I LOVE Karl’s expression. He was totally taken back by his bride.

Reasons to consider having a first look:

Having the first look allows for all of the portraits to be taken pre-ceremony. Since Amanda and Karl had their ceremony right at dusk, we wouldn’t have had enough light to photograph the portraits with natural light if they had not done a first look. This also meant that Amanda and Karl could head straight into their reception, and everyone wasn’t sitting around waiting for the pictures to be done.

While we certainly photograph weddings with or without a first look; having a first look just makes the pictures go much smoother. You also get more time for your portraits, and they aren’t as rushed so you get more pictures to choose from!

• I’m obsessed with the color palette Amanda chose. It was feminine, classy, and just beautiful. Katherine with Jubilee Flowers executed the florals flawlessly. I love how the flowers brought everything together.
• The Venue in Fairhope is always a great backdrop. I love that Amanda and Karl chose to get married there and have the reception there as well.
