We had the best day wandering around San Juan Capistrano, and I don’t think I was quite prepared for how much I’d love it. Everything about the town felt charming and peaceful—like a slower pace of life wrapped up in the most beautiful setting.
We started at the Mission San Juan Capistrano, and honestly, I’m so glad we decided to go. We weren’t sure if it would be worth the stop, but it ended up being one of my favorite places we’ve visited in California so far. If you love history, gardens, fountains, and old-world architecture, it’s an absolute must. I could’ve stayed there for hours.
I know they don’t allow weddings on-site, but from what I can tell, they do allow wedding portraits—and I just couldn’t help imagining how beautiful it would be for a bride and groom. The light, the arches, the peaceful feel… it’s the kind of place that already looks like a wedding album before you even take a photo.
After the mission, we wandered through Old Town San Juan Capistrano—the area across the train tracks that’s filled with sweet shops, historic buildings, and so much charm. It was the kind of day that just made me want to slow down and take it all in.
I’ll be honest—I was hesitant to bring my camera on this trip. I really wanted to be present with Andrew and not feel like I had to capture everything. But even though I haven’t used it every day, I’m so glad I brought it. Having it with me on a few of our adventures has felt like the perfect balance. No pressure, just capturing a few moments for me.
San Juan Capistrano, you were such a beautiful surprise—and the kind of place I’d come back to in a heartbeat.
