Why I Love Sunrise Sessions | Angela & Andrew’s 30A Engagement at Grayton Beach

There’s just something magical about sunrise on the beaches of 30A. The skies are soft and glowing, the water sparkles, and there’s this peaceful calm before the rest of the world wakes up. Angela and Andrew’s sunrise session at Grayton Beach on 30A reminded me all over again why sunrise really is the best time for photos.

The Perks of a Sunrise Session on 30A

1. Fewer Crowds
The beaches along 30A are known for their beauty—and their popularity. By sunrise, you can often have the beach all to yourself. For Angela and Andrew’s session, we had Grayton Beach completely empty, which made their portraits feel private, relaxed, and distraction-free.

2. Softer Light
Morning light has a softness to it that you just can’t replicate later in the day. At sunrise, the glow is flattering, natural, and dreamy—perfect for romantic engagement photos or family portraits.

3. Cooler Weather & Less Humidity
Especially in the summer, sunrise means you’ll beat the heat. The air is cooler, there’s less humidity, and you can enjoy the session without feeling sticky or overheated.

4. Peaceful & Calm Atmosphere
There’s something about the early morning hours that feels peaceful. No crowds, no rush, just the sound of the waves and the glow of the sky. Angela and Andrew soaked up every quiet moment together, making their photos feel even more authentic.

5. Unique Views
Sunrise skies over the Gulf often bring pastel colors—pinks, blues, and soft oranges. At Grayton Beach, those pastel skies combined with the tall grasses of the dunes gave us the perfect backdrop.

Angela especially wanted portraits on the dunes, and I’m obsessed with how those turned out—the combination of tall grasses, pastel skies, and their joy made the sweetest photos. These two were total champs for waking up early, and it was SO worth it.

Angela and Andrew are getting married in September, and I can hardly wait for their big day. If their wedding is anything like this session, it’s going to be full of love, laughter, and the most beautiful memories.

Final Thoughts

If you’re planning an engagement session or family portraits along 30A, I’ll always recommend sunrise. Between the soft light, quiet atmosphere, and cooler temps, it’s the perfect recipe for timeless photos.
