History Museum of Mobile Wedding in Mobile, Alabama – Julia + Lucas

Julia and Lucas’ wedding at the History Museum in Mobile, Alabama totally exceeded my expectations. Honestly, this is probably the most laid back wedding I have ever photographed. Julia and Lucas were both a dream to work and so easy to be around. It made for the most relaxed day and everything just seemed to follow their laid-back vibe because it went perfectly smooth.

We started the day off at an Airbnb that Julia and Lucas reserved for the bridal party to get ready. Julia looked absolutely gorgeous and her bouquet is one of my favorites to date. (Shoutout to Elizabeth’s Garden for this gorgeous piece of art!) Her dress was stunning and suited her perfectly and she just looked like a real-life princess.

This is totally random, but this is the first time I have ever photographed a wedding at the History museum when it didn’t rain. It just happens to be raining or storming every time I’m there, but on this particular day, it did not rain at all! It wasn’t too cold, too hot or too windy. The weather was absolutely perfect for the occasion and I’m so glad it turned out so beautiful for their big day.

Tori was the wedding planner, and I absolutely love her. She executed every detail with purpose and great organization. I highly recommend a good wedding planner like Tori to make sure you are able to enjoy your day in confidence, knowing that it is organized and planned for.

The staircase at the History Museum is one of those unique pieces of character that really gave a special added touch to the day. The ceremony actually took place in the courtyard, a little hidden slot between buildings that is completely exposed to the outdoors, but also is provided with plenty of shade from the buildings and these trees looming overhead. 😍 The ivy crawling up the walls around these arches is another favorite detail of the ceremony location. It was just the right balance of shade and sunlight and the ivy gave me all the feels!

In all my years of being a wedding photographer, I’ve seen a lot of touching moments. None so much that rival this precious reaction that Lucas had to seeing his bride for the first time. These are the moments that I consider myself so blessed to be able to witness such emotion and genuine love. It always creates a spark of love and gratitude for my job when I see a facial expression such as this. No words needed to describe their love for one another.

Again, because of my usual experience with the History Museum in Mobile, Alabama, I’m usually not able to take pictures outside because of the weather. I was super excited to be able to get some outdoor pictures with this awesome, mild weather because this building is fabulous!

The bride and groom pictures are usually always my favorites of the day, and these did not disappoint! Julia’s veil was long and flowing which always makes for the best photos. The two of them shared some extra special moments and I’m so glad I was able to capture them.

White walls are totally my love language because the esthetic matches my style so beautifully. The simple, classic look gives all the photos a light, airy, and clean backdrop. What more could I ask for? Totally in love with those images.

Julia and Lucas gave me so much time for photos and that is always so helpful. They ended their reception with family and friends and a rose petal exit.

Don’t settle for less. Find you someone that at just the sight of you, will melt. Find someone that loves you for every part of you and will cherish you the way that Lucas cherishes Julia. When I see these images, I can only be reminded that true love really does exist for those that are open and willing to wait for the right one to come along. This was a fairy-tale wedding and I cannot think of anyone more deserving than Julia and Lucas.
