I just got back from New Mexico. My sister lives in Albuquerque, and I was able to get away for a few days to see her. Ever since she moved there several years ago, she has been wanting me to come out to see the balloon fiesta.
So I finally made the trip. I have been to New Mexico once before to photograph a wedding, but this was my first balloon fiesta experience, and it was a good one! I can’t get over how many balloons there are, and how different they all are.
I took way too many photos, but I was definitely in awe of them, and wanted to remember it.
Before all of the balloons go up, they send up 5 balloons for dawn patrol to make sure it is safe for the other balloons to go up. This is right before the sun comes up, so it was still dark.

My sister, Joo Joo. She is 37 weeks preganant, and looks amazing!

I packed a sweater with me, but I had no idea how cold it would be. I’m glad I borrowed a coat from my sister. My toes were frozen but it was totally worth it.

Joo Joo, and my sweet niece, Natalie.
